“I was not flaunting my boobs on social media” – Cynthia Morgan

Delectable reggae/dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan has refuted claims that she is scared of Queen Ure for not promoting her song, Porpori.

The speculation began shortly after the dancehall queen began promoting her new single, German Juice instead of Porpori.
Last year, Queen Ure got a court injunction to stop Morgan from using the word, Popori, claiming that she created the word and had its copyright.

But in a chat with Saturday Beats, Morgan said that popori is a slang in Edo State and therefore, it would be wrong for Queen Ure to lay claim to coining it.

She said she couldn’t have been scared of Queen Ure not to promote the song, saying their songs had different spellings and concept. Morgan hinted that apart from promoting it, she would soon do a video for the much talked about song.

“My song, Popori, is still out and I am shooting the video for it very soon. Ure does not have anything on me and I don’t have any case with her. Popori is my song. I produced the song and came up with the title. I am from Edo State and I have been hearing the word Popori from my childhood. It was funny when she said that she was the one that invented the word popori and holds the copyright. She cannot even use a copyright for the word. If she had told me that she trademarked the word, then it would have been a separate thing. Even if she trademarked the word, our songs have two different spellings.

“I was just having fun and I took a picture. I actually took a picture of my necklace and the boob part went viral but it is all good because it was fun. I took a picture of my necklace because I liked it and I asked my fans what they thought about it but people decided to see only the boobs. I was just having fun; I was not flaunting my boobs on social media. I was in Cape Town shooting a video for German Juice when I took the picture. It was not planned, I just did it and the picture went viral.

“I don’t take marijuana; I am naturally an energetic and playful person. I love nature and having people around me. I draw my strengths from the people around me. I don’t take Indian hemp,” she said.
